A full 92% of our agency budget supports direct service and program manager staff members’ wages and benefits. Our services depend on contracts with various governmental agencies. Due to budget shortfalls, this funding has been cut several times over the past five years.
As a result, staff generously contribute the use of their personal vehicles to transport clients and pay their own way for activities (or clients pay for them to attend). Many of our staff work a second job to support their families and continue doing the work they love.
VRS’s board of directors has determined that $40,000 in additional funds is needed to support our clients and staff this next year. These funds would provide for client recreational activities and for staff to accompany those clients, vehicles for client transit to appointments and activities and increased wages for staff.
We at VRS hope you will join us in meeting the needs of the developmentally disabled, homeless veterans and families needing support, as well as the staff that assist them.
